RE: JD 4020 injection pump problem - Luckyman: 10/13 ...4020 diesel injector pump timing. Just rebuilt the engine on a JD4020 with the Roosa pump. Tractor starts and seems to run well once it starts, but it takes an excessive amount of cranking before it does start. Removed the rectangular cover over the timing marks view port and the two lines are offset about 1/8 of an inch with engine off.A 4020 diesel has two thermostats. IIRC, idle adjustment is made at the injection pump. PTO brake adjustment is dependent on transmission type; SyncroRange tractors may be just a linkage adjustment.
